– The threat posed by the coronavirus disease 2019 is expected to affect more international flights at Kalibo Airport, the gateway to the popular beach destination Boracay Island in Aklan province.

Monserate told The Manila Bulletin in a phone interview that airline carriers have submitted notices to CAAP Kalibo that they will be halting some direct international flights to the airport. The additional flight suspensions will be coming a month after the initial order that banned flights coming and going to China, Hong Kong and Macau.

Monserate clarified that the decision to temporarily stop the international flights were made by the airlines, and not by CAAP.
