The Department of Health wants the country to remain under Alert Level 2 as the coronavirus disease situation in Manila and San Juan was placed at moderate risk after weeks of being under minimum risk.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Ano also reported that over four million people were displaced by Typhoon Odette, including 129,000 belonging to indigenous peoples groups. Meanwhile, Ano also ordered a start to the crackdown on illegal fireworks and firecrackers, ahead of the New Year revelry. DOH also reported 23 firecracker-related injuries.

The Department of Education announced that it was proceeding with its plans to expand the implementation of face-to-face classes next year.Trade and Industry Assistant Secretary Atty. Ann Claire Cabochan leads the inspection of fireworks and firecrackers in Bocaue, Bulacan, on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021. Several boxes of uncertified pyrotechnic products were confiscated after these found to be non-compliant with standards set by the government.
