. It is the first model from the automaker's “Large Product Group” and will serve as Mazda's first-ever plug-in hybrid vehicle.
Fast forward to March, and Mazda has officially unveiled the 2022 CX-60. Finished in a distinct Rhodium White Premium Metallic paint, the crossover features a long hood which confirms it makes use of longitudinally-mounted engines. It also comes with a large grille, eye-catching LED headlights, stylish alloy wheels, and unique LED wraparound taillights.
At the heart of the CX-60 PHEV is a 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G engine that's paired with an electric motor and a 17.8-kWh high-capacity battery. Mazda claims the plug-in hybrid powertrain has a total system output of 327 PS and 500 Nm of torque – making it the most powerful road car Mazda has produced to date. Power is then sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
When it comes to performance, the CX-60 can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 200 km/h in PHEV mode. With just the electric motor running, Mazda says it has a respectable top speed of 140 km/h.
