Marubeni exploring PH renewable energy projects

Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Alfredo Pascual meets with Marubeni Corp. Philippines president Shimoda Shigeru in Tokyo to discuss new and strategic investment opportunities.Japanese conglomerate Marubeni Corp. expressed interest in exploring more renewable energy projects in the Philippines, the Department of Trade and Industry said Thursday.

Recognizing the importance of environmental stewardship, it is spearheading a joint carbon credit program through afforestation, aiming to combat climate change and promote a healthier environment. DTI Secretary Alfredo Pascual said recent policy reforms opened wider doors for foreign participation in key sectors including amendments to the Retail Trade Liberalization Act, Foreign Investments Act, Public Services Act and Renewable Energy Act.
