BACOLOD CITY – Local policemen uprooted at least 111 suspected marijuana plants in Barangay Codcod, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Monday.

The Regional Drug Enforcement Unit -6 and other units arrested Benjie Clarion, 43, of Barangay Codcod, following reports about the alleged marijuana plantation in the village.While the policemen were securing the area during the operation, they also spotted 15 suspected marijuana plants worth P6,000 at the road side, aside from Clarion’s plants.
Police Lt. Col. Jesus Mesahon Jr., San Carlos City police chief, said they already have a lead on the identity of the person who planted the plants on the roadside. He, however, refused to divulge it while the investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile, Mesahon said that Clarion was previously arrested for a drug offense and was released through plea bargaining.Police Brig. Gen. Flynn Dongbo, director of Police Regional Office -Western Visayas, lauded the police operatives for the successful operation.
