PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has vowed to continue to boost the quality of jobs in the Philippines after the country's unemployment rate dropped in April.

In a statement, Marcos said the government would take advantage of technology to generate more job opportunities for the Filipinos.On Friday, the Philippine Statistics Authority reported that the country's unemployment rate dropped to 4.5 percent in April 2023 from 5.7 percent in the same month last year due to the further reopening of the economy.

The PSA reported that the number of unemployed Filipinos in April 2023 was estimated at 2.26 million, down from the 2.76 million in April last year.Employment ticked up to 95.5 percent in April from 95.3 percent in the previous month. It was also higher than the 94.3 percent recorded in the same month last year.The number of Filipinos with jobs rose to 48.06 million, an increase of 5.32 million from 45.63 million in April 2022.
