Senator Imelda Josefa “Imee” Marcos on Sunday called on social welfare authorities to find long-term solutions and programs for the Aetas and Badjao natives, who usually flock to Metro Manila to beg in the streets, especially during the “Ber” months.

Marcos said the Department of Social Welfare and Development should start rounding up the Aetas and Badjaos to save them from further harassment and misery as they go around Manila’s streets to ask for money this Christmas season.

If the DSWD is doing anything to help these tribal groups from proliferating in Manila, it has proven to be unsuccessful, the senator said. “Dapat mabigyan ng permanenteng solusyon ang pagdagsa ng mga katutubo sa Kamaynilaan kapag dumarating ang Chirstmas season ,” Marcos said.
