President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will also pursue the Philippines' economic agenda aside from discussing defense and security when he goes to Washington for an official visit, a foreign affairs official said on Friday.

"Discussion on security and defense is given. It’s something that will actually be raised. But I think for this trip, there will be a heavy emphasis in terms of the economic agenda," Daza said. Daza reiterated that Marcos would have a bilateral talk with US President Joe Biden on May 1 and an expanded meeting with other American officials. She mentioned that the Chief Executive would also meet with various firms to woo possible investors.

"He will also have an expanded bilateral. He will meet with different companies where he will actually be able to promote the Philippines, both as a trading partner, as well as an investment market," she added.
