President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has designated the barangay captain of Holy Spirit, Quezon City to serve as undersecretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government. Read:

Press Secretary-designate Trixie Cruz-Angeles revealed that Barangay Captain Felicito “Chito” Valmocina has been picked to serve as DILG undersecretary.

Valmocina, who leads one of QC’s largest villages with a population of over 110,000, acknowledged his appointment in a Facebook post on Monday.“Once again I thank our President Bongbong Marcos Jr. for the trust he gave me. You can count on me to give all I can to serve our country with dignity and principles for the betterment of every barangay in the Philippines,” the barangay leader said on his Facebook account.

“Atty. Victor D. Rodriguez stood by President-elect Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. and his family during their most trying times of the campaign. He has been described by the Marcos camp as ‘tireless and disciplined,” he added. “Expectedly, some interest groups will lobby for positions and appointments in the new administration. However, the ultimate responsibility on governance rests on the broad shoulders of President BBM, as represented by his Executive Secretary,” Evangelista stressed.
