President Marcos is expected to push for cooperation in various areas, including food and energy security, and a rules-based international order during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations-Gulf Cooperation Council Summit in Saudi Arabia.

President Marcos leaves Maharlika Hall at Villamor Air Base yesterday after delivering a speech before his departure for Saudi Arabia to participate in the Asean-GCC Summit 2023.

“We will emphasize our advocacy for a rules-based international order to maintain peace and security, stability in our regions,” he added. The conference is the first interaction between the ASEAN and GCC where the two regions are expected to produce the ASEAN-GCC Framework of Cooperation for 2024 to 2028.

Meanwhile, some 10,000 unpaid overseas Filipino workers who worked in a Saudi construction firm that went bankrupt in 2015 are hoping that Marcos will discuss their unpaid salaries with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. Two cruise ships from China docked at the port of Subic Bay this week, according to the Department of Tourism Central Luzon...
