With the help of some concerned citizens, security guards arrested a man who stabbed a call center agent with a screw driver in Barangay Bagumbayan, Quezon City on Monday evening, Nov. 14.

The Quezon City Police District identified the suspect as John Hofre Mecedilla Madriaga, 43, a resident of Manggahan, Pasig City.

The QCPD said the victim, John Harris San Juan Magana, 29, was walking along with his companion, Princess Jasmine Canezares, in front of the E-Commerce Building at Citywalk, Eastwood in the said barangay at around 10 p.m. when Madriaga suddenly approached them from behind and stabbed him several times with a screw driver.

Police said that some concerned citizens who witnessed the incident intervened and pulled the victim away from the suspect. Madriaga tried to escape, but he was chased and cornered by some motorcycle riders and security guards. The victim was rushed to Quirino Memorial Medical Center by Barangay Bagumbayan medical team for treatment while the suspect was brought to QCPD Eastwood Police Station for investigation.QCPD director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III thanked the concerned citizens who helped save the victim’s life and arrest the suspect.
