IMReady: An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 earthquake struck the island nation of Vanuatu on Sunday evening, but no tsunami threat to the Philippines has been detected, phivolcs_dost said.

According to the agency, the quake hit at 8:32 p.m. Philippines time at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The United States Geological Survey said the epicenter was located 40 kilometers west of the town of Port-Olry on the island of Espiritu Santo. "Tsunami waves reaching 0.3 to 1 meters above the tide level are possible for some coasts of Vanuatu," said the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
