THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Monday said that lines 1 and 2 of the Light Rail Transit will collect higher fares beginning August 2 this year. Read more:
Boarding fees will increase from P11 to P13.29 and an additional P1.21 will be collected per kilometer traveled, up from P1 per kilometer.'We at the Department of Transportation believe that this fare adjustment will contribute to maintaining affordable mass transportation services for the two commuter-train lines,' DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette Aquino said.
LRT-1 private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation and LRT-2 operator Light Rail Transit Authority will publish the approved fare adjustments in at least one newspaper of general circulation for three consecutive weeks or on June 19, June 26 and July 3.'After which, 30 days after the last publication date will be the collection date -- August 2,' Aquino said.
