While the country is still recovering from the destruction left by typhoon “Quinta” , the low pressure area east of the Philippines has now an increasing chance of becoming a tropical depression and may affect the country in the coming days.
Weather specialist Robb Gile said the LPA, which may enter the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday or Thursday, could develop into a tropical depression within 48 hours.Gile said the weather disturbance could affect Southern Luzon based on the initial forecast, “but it is too early to say with certainty if the initial forecast track will be followed.”
The eye of the typhoon was estimated at 605 kilometers west of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro or 305 kilometers north-northeast of Pag-asa Island, Palawan at 4 a.m. It has slightly intensified with maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 170 kph.
