Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana will not hesitate to scrap the memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Dito Telecommunity if he finds that it would compromise the Philippines' national security.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana will not hesitate to scrap the memorandum of agreement signed between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Dito Telecommunity if he finds that it would compromise the Philippines’ national security. The Defense Chief admitted that he has “concerns” on the agreement that’s why he wanted to scrutinize it before giving his approval for its implementation.“Kung kinakailangan, madali naman.

The AFP and China-backed Dito Telecommunity, formerly Mislatel, had signed a MOA on September 11 which would allow the third telecomunications company to establish its towers in military camps and installations. The said agreement was heavily criticized after concerns were expressed on possible espionage with the inclusion of China Telecom in the Dito consortium.“China Telecom is only an investor in the Dito Telecommunity so 30 percent of the capitalization, sila ang nagbigay . China Telecom will not be operating here, it is Dito which is a Philippine company,” he said.

“Tanggalin natin ang sinasabi ng iba dyan na China Telecom is coming here. They’re only investing inside para makabuo ng sapat na kapital itong Dito ,” he stated.
