LOOK: LuzonLockdown brings once buzzing Bay City to a standstill

Indeed, the tourism industry is already reeling from the pandemic with a number of airlines already cancelling all flights for the duration of the lockdown. This is seen to affect areas that rely mainly on tourists such as the Bay City in Metro Manila.

Housing several entertainment centers, casinos, malls, hotels, and offices, the Bay City is usually bustling with activity 24/7. On Tuesday, however, it was an entirely different sight. The usual gridlock of vehicles was gone, as were people hurrying to their destination save for a few who were forced to walk or bike due to the lack of public transportation.

With the threat of the virus widening its reach, it seems that empty roads in the blossoming central business district will be the new normal, at least until the lockdown is lifted.
