London-based fashion brand features ‘shibori’ pattern collection crafted by Japanese artisan

The camp-collar short-sleeved shirt’s signature stripes is made through the the Tesuji Shibori techniqueLondon-based fashion brand COS has introduced a special new collection featuring the traditional Japanese dyeing technique called shibori. The collection is a collaboration with Kazuki Tabata, an artisan from Kyoto who is skilled in the craft.

The collection includes 14 pieces of clothing and accessories for both men and women. It uses the shibori technique to create beautiful patterns by binding, folding, and dyeing fabric. The clothes come in soft shades of blue, orange, and brown.“The collaboration proudly celebrates the fusion of traditional craft and modern design.

The relax short-sleeved shirt and its matching trousers feature shades of steel blue and terracotta made from Tencel Lyocell fabric COS is known for making stylish, long-lasting clothes that are also sustainable. It uses recycled and eco-friendly materials in its designs. Kazuki Tabata, on the other hand, originally trained in sound and lighting, taught himself shibori after being inspired by his father’s work. He now creates beautiful designs through his company, Tabata Shibori, bringing this traditional Japanese craft to the world with COS.
