MANILA- Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday said part of why she accepted the President’s offer for her to lead the anti-drug campaign was her strength as a mother, shooting back at detractors who belittled her abilities as a woman.
“Perhaps it was my instinct as a mother that I accepted this responsibility,” she said during her speech at the Women Influence Forum in Pasay. “Within my days of acceptance of the designation by the president, statements and fake news pushed by trolls on social media were already coming out insinuating that I lack courage and resolve because I was only a mother and woman,” Robredo, a mother of three, said.
But Robredo pointed out that of all the roles women are made to play, “the role that requires the most courage, the most reason, the most strength is being a mother.” “So to all mothers and women in this room and across the nation, remember you are made for times like these. And you are meant to survive even the most difficult times,” she told the audience of mostly women.Robredo’s camp, which has criticized the deaths linked to the drug war, said the new campaign under the vice president will focus on preventing unnecessary killings.

Leni is a shame to women especially those who are accomplished. Since she will never be on par even with an average accomplished woman, she has to use the victim card as justification as shield to her incoherence, incompetence and being illogical!

moms I know aren't like Robredo - faking it by talk. most moms and fathers had suffered having addicts in their families during Aquino days. so nope they aren't thinking like u who wanted to baby drug traffikers.
no one questioned Leni's abilities as a woman. we questioned her abilities, morality and intelligence as a leader irregardless of sexuality.

It wasnt her motherly instinct that moved her to accept the challenge. 2 years na lang at election na naman. Not to mention the fact na walang nanalo from otso diretso last election. Its purely political in nature coz this is her best chance to win the next presidential election.

Leni’s statement is insensitive to women who can’t have kids. She seems to be saying here that only a mother knows best how to fix the drug war.
Leni, can you say that to the mothers that lost husbands and children because of these drug lord because they don't give a damn? Are these mothers of enforcers meant to suffer in these diffcult times. Do you think these drugs lord had a thought process to protect our children?
A Drug Addict, Pushers and DrugLords do not even care. As long MONEY and POWER is concern. We do not need a motherly care for these kinds of PEOPLE. WE WANT THEM TO FACE THE LEGAL CONSEQUENCES for their actions.

I have not encountered any criticism of Leni that says she cannot do the job because she is a woman. Most of her critics cite her inexperience and incompetence for the role. Leni and supporters should stop using the woman card as if women are better at everything than men.
It’s NOT because you are a woman. The late great Miriam Defensor Santiago would never have been doubted and would have gotten all the support if she were the Drug Czar. So, NO Leni. You CAN’T use the woman card. You’re just plain incompetent.
