The Las Piñas City government announced Wednesday, May 18, that residents can now receive vaccine shots against Covid-19 in barangay health centers.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar said residents may now visit their nearest barangay health centers to get vaccinated, instead of going to the identified vaccination sites in the city. Aguilar stressed the importance of getting the Covid-19 vaccine amid the threat of the highly contagious Omicron subvariant BA.2.12.1.The barangay health centers will administer the first and second dose, as well as the booster shots, of the vaccines.

The City Health Office reported that 586,225 of the 645,666 individuals belonging to the adult population received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines; 574, 438 got the second dose and 212,560 received the first booster shot. A total of 374 immunocompromised persons also got the second booster shot.
