HEALTH Secretary Francisco Duque 3rd said that Laguna may be placed under Alert Level 3 to control a possible spike in the number of coronavirus disease 2019 cases. Before this, the National Capital Region , Bulacan, Cavite and Rizal have been placed under the same alert level as cases in these areas have risen over the holidays.

'Laguna is contiguous to Rizal, they are all under Region 4-A [Calabarzon or Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon], so I was informed by my Epidemiology Bureau director that we are looking at Laguna and they are evaluating the metrics, the two-week growth rate and the average daily attack rate per 100,000 population,' Duque said during the Go Negosyo town hall meeting on Wednesday.
