SEN. Panfilo Lacson on Wednesday said former Daanbantayan, Cebu mayor Vicente Loot should be on guard “24/7” against physical threat – with or without any joke from anyone who wanted to hurt him.
The senator made the remark when asked to comment on President Duterte’s remark that he “ordered” Loot’s ambush in May 2018. “Joke or not, Mayor Loot would be better off minding his physical security 24/7,” Lacson said in a text message. “Well, you should ask him first if he was joking or serious when he said that. Midway into his term, we should already be familiar with his penchant for saying something as serious as that and dismissing it as a joke afterwards,” he added.“I can’t comment because I was not around when he said that. The context in which he declares something must be seriously considered otherwise he is prone to be quoted out of context as he has always been,” dela Rosa said.
Loot, a former police general whom Duterte named as an alleged protector of drug syndicates, survived the attack that left four others injured.
