Presidential candidate Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said the Philippine government should join other “peace-loving” countries in condemning Russia over the escalating tension in Ukraine’s borders.

Presidential candidate Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Wednesday said the Philippine government should join other “peace-loving” countries in condemning Russia over the escalating tension in Ukraine’s borders.

“Huwag natin sabihing hindi tayo apektado. ‘Pag ang buong NATO countries, ano, ‘yung members—European Union, US, Australia—nagsabay-sabay magbigay ng economic sanctions sa Russia dahil sa invasion, tatamaan tayo niyan indirectly ,” Lacson said during a press conference in Batangas where he and running mate Senate President Vicente Sotto III campaigned.

Another thing the government has to consider is the economic implications for Manila’s own maritime dispute with China.
