Nanawagan si Surigao del Norte lawmaker Ace Barbers sa Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) na pangalanan kung sino ang dating opisyal ng Gabinete na nagsilbing 'padrino' ng Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) para mabigyan ng lisensiya na mag-operate.

Sa ulat ni Sandra Aguinaldo sa GMA News"24 Oras" nitong Martes, sinabi ni Barbers, chairman ng House committee on dangerous drugs, na dapat papanagutin ang dating opisyal kung may ginawang iregularidad.

Sa isang pahayag kamakailan ng PAGCOR, sinabi nito na"a former high ranking government official tried to facilitate the grant of gaming licenses to some of the illegal POGOs that have been recently raided and foundAyon kay PAGCOR chief Alejandro Tengco, mula sa 298 na POGO na may lisensiya sa nagdaang administrasyon, bumaba na ito sa 43 na lamang matapos magsagawa ng paglilinis laban sa mga illegal operator.

Tungkol sa hamon ni Barbers, sinabi ng opisyal ng PAGCOR na magsasalita na lang siya sa gagawing imbestigasyon ng Senado. “It is about time we stop allowing POGOs considering that this is illegal in their country . Why are we allowing this in our country? Dapat magkaroon tayo ng matibay na posisyon rito,” sabi ni Barbers sa pulong balitaan nitong Martes.
