Juan Miguel Severo calls out mall for trying to pay him with food

MANILA—Spoken-word artist Juan Miguel Severo called out an unnamed mall on Friday after being offered to perform for food. On Twitter, Severo, who has appeared on TV and in movies, shared the invitation he received asking if he wants to participate in an event celebrating Buwan ng Wika in exchange for meals. In another post, he explained that he is more than willing to perform for free in charities rallies, and fundraisers. Though he said that blocking off a day in his schedule to not make any income, or even lose money, for a mall show makes no sense to him. Severo first shot to fame after his performance of his poem "Ang Huling Tula Na Isusulat Ko Para Sa 'Yo" went viral in 2015.

He has since appeared in several TV and movie projects, most recently in the blockbuster hit, "The Hows of Us."

Baket na offend sa exdeal? Akala ko meals lang talaga. If you were a supplier at pinapili ka between 20k na cash or 40k na exdeal? Ma-offend ka sa exdeal or sa cash?

Not payment because there is no work done yet. It was a mere offer and he got offended instead of proposing a counter offer he chose to express his frustration.

In fairness to the said mall, they were just negotiating at that time, but Mr. Severo is quick to judge stating it was an insult. Duh! Artist should earn their reputation first to demand for higher pay, not the other way around. See Coco Martin's life.
