COTABATO CITY – Japan, through its embassy in Manila, has assured “continuous support” for the Mindanao peace process, and the Bangsamoro autonomous government as part of its external thrust in helping “bring greater stability and prosperity” in conflict-affected communities in southern Philippines.

“Japan will never tire of lending a hand to the Mindanao peace process. We share with the Philippine government the dream of enduring peace and better life for the Bangsamoro,” Yasushi said, citing projects his government has been providing for the peace process starting with the defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao .

Yasushi also cited the role of the Japan–Bangsamoro Initiatives for Reconstruction and Development in the peace process, saying the project had contributed over P25 billion since 2002 in aid for conflict-affected areas mostly comprising now the BARMM territory.
