—A jail escapee was killed after he allegedly tried to shoot it out with pursuing policemen in Barangay Luz here Monday morning.Cadu was one of the three inmates, who escaped from the Mabolo Police Station past midnight last Sunday.
Police Maj. Dindo Alaras, chief of the Mabolo Police Station, said the three inmates were able to escape by cutting the metal grills of their cell using a hacksaw.It was around 10 a.m. Monday when the Mabolo police were tipped off that the three escapees were spotted in Sitio Cabantan in Barangay Luz.
The three escapees were cornered in an alley but when police asked them to surrender, Dacu allegedly drew a gun, and was shot at.Arrested was Oliver Basak while the other inmate Nico Baylosis was able to escape. Police Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, chief of the Police Regional Office Central Visayas, said an investigation will be conducted to determine the possible administrative liability of the police officers who were on duty during the escape.
