SOME 1.3 billion Catholics around the world mourn the death of Jesus Christ on the Cross following his crucifixion in Mt. Calvary or Golgotha in Israel on Good Friday.

'It is finished,' was Jesus last words before he bowed and died on the cross The Bible tells us that Jesus said seven things while dying on the cross. Four of them were a fulfillment of prophecy..The seven last words of Jesus before his death on the cross are written in the gospels of Sts. Luke, Mark, Matthew and John: In St. Luke 23:34, Jesus said: Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

Those who are infirmed and above 60 years old are not under this obligation,' he said, adding that senior citizens can substitute said obligation, however, with corporal works of mercy or acts of piety as per local norm,' he explained. He said that fasting means eating one full meal a day with small snacks on the side.In a previous homily, Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, CBCP president, said that Jesus was a victim of disinformation, which eventually led to his death on the cross.
