Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has vowed building more disaster-resilient evacuation centers if he wins the presidency in Eleksyon2022.

In a radio interview in Butuan on Wednesday, Moreno was asked about his plans to mitigate the effects of natural calamities following the devastation brought by Typhoon Odette.Moreno also suggested building vertical houses that are made of concrete materials since typhoons usually hit the same areas.

The presidential aspirant also vowed prioritizing the acquisition of latest tools and equipment in preparation for natural calamities. “May historical facts naman. So, with those data, I think siguro by this time, at this age and with technology and available tools and equipment, it should be acquired by the government,” he said.

With these in place, Moreno said the government would only have to work on providing food and water during disaster response.
