Amid the continued unrest of Taal Volcano in Batangas, the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center has once again reminded the public about the importance of readying an emergency go bag.
“When there is an emergency threat, it is necessary to evacuate to a safer place. In preparation for this, remember to have an emergency go bag with supplies enough for your family,” it said in a Facebook post. The DROMIC, which is a division of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Management Bureau , gives us a checklist.-Important documents in sealed envelopes-First aid kit with face mask and face shield-Rope, old stack of newspapers and sturdy containers-Sleeping bags or mats, and blankets-Clothing, raincoat, boots and sanitary supplies
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology raised Taal Volcano’s status from Alert Level to 2 to Alert Level 3 on Thursday, July 1, at 3:37 p.m. after a short-lived phreatomagmatic eruption at the main crater occurred at 3:16 p.m.
