The International Indigenous Peoples Movement for Self-Determination and Liberation (IPMSDL) appealed to member-states of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to support a resolution seeking an inquiry into the supposed human rights abuses by the Duterte regime.

IPMSDL global coordinator and international officer of the National Alliance of Indigenous Peoples Organizations in the Philippines Beverly Longid

Recently, 11 UN Human Rights Experts urged the UNHRC to look into the rising number of unlawful deaths and killings purportedly committed by state forces. “Under the past three years of the Duterte administration, his war on drugs has left countless families grieving for their young as even children were slain in the ongoing war on drugs. At least 384 activists, farmers, and labor leaders have been brutally murdered as well as the regime cracked down on progressive forces,” Longid revealed.

To avert international scrutiny the group noted Duterte has denied all attempts of the UN to conduct independent fact-finding and investigations.
