Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez, also the chairman of the Metro Manila Council, said there will be an instant declaration of granular lockdown in some parts of Metro Manila with high COVID-19 cases to curb the spread of the disease.

Olivarez, in a Teleradyo interview, said the implementation of instant granular lockdown will be made to stop National Capital Region residents from going to their relatives, friends, or acquaintances living outside the region to avoid a lockdown declaration.

Under the new scheme, Olivarez said granular lockdown will take effect immediately in areas, even streets with just two cases of COVID-19. In Paranaque City, the Business Permit and Licensing Office , headed by Atty. Melanie Soriano-Malaya, inspected business establishments in the city to ensure their compliance with the guidelines of the new alert level system.
