‘Insensitive’ to let public return to work minus adequate public transport, says think-tank COVID19 CommuterPatrol WalangBiyahe

The Action for Economic Reforms called on government to lift restrictions on public utility vehicles and ease the suffering of commuters under general community quarantine .

"Some have to compete for the very limited free rides that government offers, with the risk of spreading the virus due to overcrowding . . . To say that this is inhumane is an understatement," the AER said in a statement posted on its website on Saturday. The group pointed out that the massing up of people to take rides can lead to another surge of virus infections, which would hurt efforts to curb the virus and can have massive economic implications.

Agree. Didn’t the IATF think of how employees and workers, very few of whom own vehicles, are supposed to go to work if public transportation is banned? Do they expect them all to walk to /from work? Isn’t this being hare-brained and heartless?
