India’s federal government in its newly released the Civil Registration System (CRS) report 2020 has stated that the country recorded an increase of 6.2 percent in the death rate in the Covid-19 pandemic year.

NEW DELHI, India — India’s federal government in its newly released the Civil Registration System report 2020 has stated that the country recorded an increase of 6.2 percent in the death rate in the Covid-19 pandemic year.

“In case of registered deaths, number of registered events has gone up from 76.4 lakhs in 2019 to 81.2 lakhs in 2020, i.e. an increase of 6.2 percent,” the report said. Out of the total registered deaths, the share of males and females is 60.2 percent and 39.8 percent respectively.
