MANILA, Philippines: A committee at the House of Representatives on Tuesday held a hearing on the collision between Chinese Coast Guard vessels and a boat by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on a resupply mission.

In his opening remarks,Mandaluyong Lone District Rep. Neptali Gonzales 2nd, Special Committee on the West Philippine Sea chairman, said the hearing will serve as an 'open dialogue, ensuring that we address the challenges head-on and work towards a peaceful, cooperative future in the West Philippine Sea .

The frequent incidents prompted by Chinese vessels in the WPS is a serious cause for concern,' Gonzales said.In the hearing, resource persons from the National Task Force on the West Philippine Sea , led by its spokesman, Coast Guard Commodore Jay Tarriela, detailed the ramming incident to the panel.
