The House Committee on Civil Service and Professional Regulation is set to get busy this 2020.

Its chairman, Iligan City lone district Rep. Frederick Siao, laid out on Monday the target activities of the panel once the House of Representatives resumes work next month.“Among the top priorities for the first half of 2020 are the bills on the professions, contractuals, civil service eligibility and qualifications, necessary leaves and service credits, and civil servants’ efficiency and integrity,” said Siao.

Among the bills that the panel is set to tackle is House Bill 5728, which seeks to grant automatic civil service professional eligibility and career paths to athletes, their coaches, trainers, and management team of those who achieved podium finish or set new competition records in international sports competitions.

The Mindanao congressman said he will also keep a watchful eye on the implementation of the Ease of Doing Business/Anti-Red Tape Law. Siao noted that the next one-third of pending bills before his committee would be the goal for July to December 2020, while the last chunk would be tackled in 2021.
