Lawmakers from the House of Representatives’ Makabayan bloc cried foul over plans to disqualify them through the Comelec, claiming that it may be a scheme to cripple the opposition in the next polls. | GabrielLaluINQ

Lorenzana said that they have observed that the Communist Party of the Philippines and the New People’s Army — that are being linked to party-lists in the Makabayan bloc — have grown and become stronger with the Makabayan party-lists in office.“Isa ‘yan sa mga method or paraan na pwede silang tanggalin dyan sa Kongreso, dahil alam ninyo, ang history nila, wala naman silang ginawa kung hindi batikusin ang gobyerno at saka habang nandyan sila lumalakas lalo ‘yong CPP-NPA eh,” Lorenzana said.

“Lumabas na din ang totoo mula sa kanilang bibig mismo. Ito ang matagal nang plano ng NTF-ELCAC, DND at buong security sector kaya patuloy ang pagpapakalat ng fake news at red-tagging sa buong Makabayan Bloc. May hidden agenda: busalan ang bibig ng mga kabataan at mamamayan, at tanggalan ng tunay na representasyon sa Kongreso,” Kabataan said in a separate statement.

ACT Rep. France Castro meanwhile stressed that they are duly-elected lawmakers representing particular sectors in the country.
