Hot and humid weather will prevail across the country this weekend while cloudy skies and rain showers are expected in some areas due to the frontal system in the atmosphere, the state weather bureau said.

In the latest weather update issued on Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Administration said the frontal system is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over extreme Northern Luzon particularly in Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte.

While Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms. PAGASA warned on possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms on areas affected by the two weather systems. According to PAGASA, the heat index is a “human discomfort index” that gives the apparent temperature or what humans perceive or feel as the temperature affects their body.

On Thursday, May 21, PAGASA has recorded several dangerous levels of heat index in the country, the highest was observed in Legazpi City, Albay with a scorching 50 °C, followed by the 47 °C in Sangley Point, Cavite.

So what else is new? It would be better if PAG-ASA will mention the actual temperature in a certain area and not just the 'heat index'. As it is, it's not that 'hot' in the Philippines compared to the Middle East. But the humidity is way way too high.
