Risa Hontiveros on Monday urged Malacañang to reconsider its decision to make All Souls' Day, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve this year as “special working days,” warning that the policy would be “counterproductive and harmful for the workforce.”
Hontiveros, however, said the move would only demoralize Filipino workers since people who would report to work on those dates would no longer be entitled to holiday pay, which is granted to workers during special non-working holidays. “Bakit aalisin ang pagkakataon para kumita ang mga kababayan natin ng extra, ngayong marami ang hirap sa buhay?” she added.
She added that All Souls Day, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are important holidays for Filipino families.
Its really a stupid move. May nagppowertrip ata...
If you really understand the need, then find ways to increase availability of jobs. Given your position, no sense kung rebuttal lang.
No more overtime pay for these dates which means it's only beneficial to the business owners and not the workers
ANCALERTS Would be interesting to know what the admin's economic managers think of this move. Will it increase productivity? spending? Workers get paid either way but how will having them work on these dates help energize the economy? Will the economic gain be significant?
