The Philippine government could choose to operate its own telecommunications network to boost competition in the market, Secretary Gringo Honasan says.

The Philippine government could choose to operate its own telecommunications network to boost competition in the market, Secretary Gringo Honasan said.

Honasan said opening the sector to another major player remains on the table, with the option for the government to run a new network. "We will supervise that definitely, technically... Anything as strategic as telecoms, especially when you move into cybersecurity, has to be managed well by government," the DICT chief added.Dennis Uy's Dito wants to corner 30% of telco market in 3 years

"Let's conduct a performance audit on what the third telco, Dito, will do sa first and second quarter. Kapag maganda ang performance nila [If they perform well], then we'll look at the possibility of a fourth and a fifth telco," Honasan said.

Do I trust this government? Hmm 🤔

hnnng, no.

NO way. Unahin muna yung mas importante ~ health, education, agriculture, poverty, etc.... at yung TUBIG/WATER! Naturingan ulanin tayo at bahain bansa pero ang hirap intindihin bakit tayo nagkakaroon ng water shortage!

Let me guess...China-led or -funded.

I'm sorry intention but pls we all know state run company doesn't work. That is in all aspect. Let the private sector do the job sir.

No

When you say Philippine government, do you mean china? It's a NO.

Yes! and what made others think their provider are secure?

Nag suggest ang tech savvy na 3310 ang phone, aralin mo muba ang bagong technology.

No

Andami pang mas dapat unahin gobyerno... Providing water, housing, job opportunities, public education, public housing, publuc health, public infra... So NO

No. At least not with the kind of govt we have or the kind of electoral system we have. More likely to be run inefficiently and prone to corruption.

The same government of a country surrounded by water and perennially flooded, but can’t provide water?! The government that no one believes, when they say the water from the faucet is potable?!

Wala pa puro negative na iniisip nyo

Nope.

Kunwa Lang yan, Pero Chinese Nasa likod!

As long as (1) my information can only be accessed by the PHILIPPINE government, (2) not provided by or managed by foreign entities, (3) no third-party, (4) high speed (5) very affordable to the public, (6) fast and efficient customer service, and (7) reliable.

If they can provide good, reliable, and 100% Filipino owned and run mobile service, why not.

Depends on the service. Will it be cheaper? Will it have good service? Will it reflect the current government?

Run by the govt? Ah sigurado iyan super palpak ang serbisyo, sangkatutak ang empleado at incompetent mga bossings kaya sigurado taon-taon malulugi iyan pero congress will always throw money at it to burn. Mga govt corrupters lang makikinabang dyan. Parusa sa taxpayers iyan.

Duda. Malamang financed at tech-ed by China.

Huwag na, yumaman ka pa

Nope

No way!

Even without Duts slobbering all over Xi, no thanks

Tech backbone by China? No, thanks!

Xempre hinde kaya nga puro na privitize utilities ng pinas sa sobrang inefficient at corrupt ng government. Bow

It's about time.

Why? There are already 3 telco's?
