CEBU CITY – The Department of Health-Central Visayas (DOH-7) asked the public to observe proper sanitation in food preparation after 11 pupils fell ill after eating homemade candies in Asturias, Cebu on Friday, September 15.

The victims were taken to a hospital for suspected food poisoning and the DOH-7 is investigating the incident in an elementary school in Barangay Manguiao.

Dumdum said the municipal government will review and conduct food safety regulation inspections in schools. “We also urge parents and students to exercise caution when consuming homemade or unfamiliar food products.
