GUIUAN, Eastern Samar – Ten years after typhoon “Yolanda” or “Haiyan”  barreled through Eastern Visayas and made its first landfall here, Mayor Annaliza Gonzales-Kwan is relaunching the town as one of the region’s top tourism destinations especially in historical and surfing tourism.

The surf competition sanctioned by the United Philippine Surfing Association will be held from September 15 to 21 with the support of numerous local establishments and organizations. The tournament hosted by the local government unit of Guiuan will be held at the renowned ABCD break, a wide-open reef with pounding left-handers.
