Commissioner Rowena Guanzon revealed on Thursday that she voted for the disqualification of presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the pending petitions filed against him before the Commission on Elections (Comelec)’s First Division.

Commissioner Rowena Guanzon revealed on Thursday, Jan. 27, that she voted for the disqualification of presidential aspirant Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the pending petitions filed against him before the Commission on Elections ’s First Division.

The decision on the cases has been raffled off to a ponente whom she did not identify, but noted that her division members are Commissioners Aimee Ferolino-Ampoloquio and Marlon Casquejo. “The following day, the ponente was still not ready and was quarantined for being a close contact ,” Guanzon explained in Filipino during a Facebook live appearance last Wednesday, Jan. 26.

“I will not keep it a secret. That is the reason why all of these things are happening,” she said. “The reason is because the vote is to , to knock out my vote. They think they can invalidate it by releasing the resolution of the ponencia after I retire, which cannot happen because I already submitted my separate opinion to all of them including the chair and the commissioners.”

“To whom it may concern: Do not influence the commissioners. And do not try to buy me, threaten me or seduce me,” Guanzon tweeted, apparently pertaining to the petitions against Marcos’ candidacy.

Guanzon said she had to make public her decision so that the Filipino people will be made aware of it because there are allegedly some attempts to “knock out” her vote as she is about to retire next week.

Guanzon explains delayed Marcos DQ case decision, eyes release in a weekCommissioner Rowena Guanzon appeals to a fellow Comelec official to release the draft decision on three disqualification cases against Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos, saying she hopes to finish the case before retiring next week. Bakit napakahirap mag decide sa petition kung wala naman basihan sa batas ang kaso..kung wala naman merit edi invalid....Kailangan manaig ang power neh comelec at matapos ito..tungkulin nila sundin ang calender dates at printing of ballots or the election Or no failure neh comelec fo follow the instruction of the law..all petition is invalid if with no merit..Comissioner Guanzon and the others should obligate to finish the issue for they are mandated to follow the calendar.... The Comelec is not answerable to anyone nor the Supreme Court for the Comelec is an independent body....
