SEN. Richard Gordon announced on Saturday that he and members of his family decided to go on self-imposed quarantine after 10 of his “immediate staff” tested positive for the Coronavirus disease 2019 .
Gordon, concurrent chairman and chief executive officer of the Philippine Red Cross , said the decision to go on self-imposed quarantine was made even after he and his family had tested negative during the PRC’s latest round of routine testing, which was also done for its workers and volunteers and his Senate staff.
Gordon, who also heads the Senate justice and human rights committee, said that PRC employees and volunteers were exposed to the public while doing their duties and were thus “at risk of contracting any kind of illnesses”. Gordon said he and his family’s self-imposed quarantine at home was “to ensure the safety and well-being of any one with whom we will interact in the future.”The PRC, according to Gordon, also began contact tracing procedures.
“I am sharing this information with the public in the interest of transparency and so that all potentially affected persons may be attended to,” he added.
