Senators never played politics during the public hearings by two Senate committees on the questionable handling by the men of then Philippine National Police (PNP) Pampanga provincial director Colonel Oscar Albayalde of the botched illegal drugs raid in Mexico, Pampanga in 2013.

Senator Richard J. Gordon issued the statement as a reply to claims by now resigned PNP Director-General Oscar Albayalde that politics was behind in the public hearings by his Senate Blue Ribbon and Justice committees that pinned him down on his role in the controversial drug raid.

During the raid at the house of South Korean Johnson Lee, 32 out of the 200 kilos of “shabu” were declared as having been seized. The balance of 168 kilos, which has a value of more than P600 million, was apparently recycled for distribution. They are Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III , Senate Minority Leader Franklin M. Drilon , Panfilo M. Lacson , Risa Hontiveros , Ronald Dela Rosa and Gordon .
