Gilas Pilipinas improved two places in the latest FIBA Men’s world rankings after finishing at the 24th spot in the recently concluded 2023 Basketball World Cup.

The Nationals climbed from No. 40 to 38 in the list and behind their Asian rivals Japan , Iran , Lebanon , China and Jordan .

The Filipino dribblers closed out their stint in the World Cup with a 1-4 win-loss record, winning their final game against China, 96-75, which earned them a spot to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament for the 2024 Paris Games. Gilas is set to return to action when the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China fires off late this month.

Meanwhile, despite missing out on the podium for the second straight edition, the USA reclaimed the top spot over 2019 World Cup champion Spain , followed by reigning king Germany , Australia , silver medalist Serbia , bronze medalist Canada , and Argentina . Latvia made a huge leap as it now jumped 22 places to No. 8, France at No. 9, and Lithuania at No. 10.
