Senator Sherwin Gatchalian admitted feeling dismayed that two of the measures he pushed hard to be passed into law are still not being implemented by the government.

Gatchalian is referring to the “Murang Kuryente Act” and the Mobile Number Portability Act , both of which have already been signed into law by President Duterte but are still unimplemented by the respective agencies tasked to follow through with its implementation.

Under this law, the government will tap the P208-billion of the proceeds of its net national share from the Malampaya fund to pay for these stranded contract costs and stranded debts of the National Power Corporation which is currently being charged to consumers. “So, ang gagawin natin ngayon, tuloy-tuloy ang ating pagtulak sa IRR, tuloy-tuloy ang pagkalampag sa kanila dahil ang gusto natin by 2020 hindi na tumaas itong Universal Charges ,” said the senator.
