Gardenia vows to keep 'quality, safety' of products amid viral tampering video

MANILA - Gardenia Philippines on Thursday vowed to keep the quality and safety of its products after a video of one of its delivery personnel, who appeared to be tampering with the packaging of bread products, went viral.

In a statement, the local distributor of the known bakery brand said it launched an investigation and would take "the necessary measures so that no similar incident will happen again in the future.” "The quality and safety of our products as well the welfare of our consumers are our top priorities. Rest assured that we are doing [the] best we could to serve our customers with the best quality products and services, nonetheless," Gardenia said in a statement posted on its Facebook page late Thursday.

The viral Facebook video, shared over 45,000 times late Thursday, has now been removed from the social media platform.

I think this is just an isolated case. I choose gardeniaph because I know there is minimal human interaction sa process nila. Honestly, super dali mo ng makikita na tampered yung package ng bread kasi pinaikot niya bago iseal. That's not how they do it sa plant.

Sealed plastic dapat para siguradong safe matagal pa amagin at hindi pa kukuhanan. At yung pulled out bread nyo, pamigay nyo na lng basta walang amag.

Napanuod ko to. Naawa ako kasi parang gutom si Kuya pero grabe naman yung madaming pack yung kinuhanan niya. Bumuo ata siya ng isang pack din sa pagkuha ng isang piraso bawat pack. Madiskarte si Kuya. Pero gardeniaph baka kayo yung may mali kaya nagagawa yun ng employee niyo.

Usually this being done by the delivery truck crew. Gardenia mgmt has to treat its people humanely as this has been the complaint I got from the delivery truck crew when I have an unexpected chat while in the parking area of a convenient store.
