Travelers shall expect lower airfares next month as the Civil Aeronautics Board lowered the fuel surcharge level in February amid the drop in jet fuel price.

During the agency’s monitoring for December 10, 2022 to January 9, 2023, the price of jet fuel averaged P38.92 per liter, “which corresponds to Level 6 of the Passenger and Cargo Fuel Surcharge Matrix.”Under Level 6, passengers will be charged P185 to P665 fuel surcharge for domestic flights and P610.37 to P4,538.40 for international flights, depending on the flight distance.

For international passenger flights originating from the Philippines, the fuel surcharge ranges from P722.71 to P5,373.69. "We acknowledge and will comply with the lowered fuel surcharge matrix that takes effect for next month’s ticket purchases. We appreciate our customers' loyalty and we are committed to continue supporting the nation as its flag carrier,” PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said.
