BIÑAN CITY, Laguna — The city government here held a flag retirement ceremony to mark National Heroes Day on Monday and in conclusion of History Month.During the ceremony led by the Biñan City Culture, History, Arts and Tourism Office, torn and faded Philippine flags were retired and buried on the front lawn of Sentrong Pangkultura ng Biñan.

According to Section 14 of Republic Act No. 8491 , a flag worn out through wear and tear will not be thrown away but solemnly burned to avoid misuse or desecration.In his message during the ceremony streamed through Facebook, Mayor Arman Dimaguila thanked medical frontliners for risking their lives amid the coronavirus disease pandemic.

This is the second flag retirement ceremony held by the local government unit. The city government previously held the same ceremony during last year’s National Heroes Day.
