The Philippine Embassy in Seoul said that it “received confirmation from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that a Filipino national was tested positive with coronavirus disease on 20 March 2020. This is the first confirmed case of COVID-19 infection involving a Filipino national in South Korea.”
The Filipino, who is in his 50s, is an employee of the Green Climate Fund, an international institution located in Songdo International Business District in Incheon, South Korea, the Korea Herald reported. The report stated that the Filipino national went to Geneva, Switzerland, from March 8 to 12 to attend the GCF board meeting. He returned to South Korea on March 16 via Dubai and the Philippines.
The Filipino national, who lives in Songdo, is the third GCF employee to test positive for COVID-19. A Canadian in his 40s and a Zambian in his 50s, who both attended the Geneva meeting, were infected with the disease.
